1. The loud cry of the third angel<\/b><\/p>\n
This is the message given by God to be sounded forth in the loud cry of the third angel<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0 {8T 118.2}<\/p>\n
\u00a02. The first, second, and third angels’ messages repeated<\/b> \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00a0 A similar work will be accomplished when that other angel, represented in Revelation 18, gives his message. The first, second, and third angels’ messages will need to be repeated. <\/span><\/b>The call will be given to the church<\/span>, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins.” “Babylon, the great, is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. . . . Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues: for her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities” [Revelation 18:2-5].\u00a0 {16MR 270.1}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Take each verse of this chapter<\/b>, and read it carefully, especially the last two<\/b>: “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”\u00a0 {16MR 270.2}<\/p>\n \u00a0 Three Messages to Be Combined.–The three angels’ messages are to be combined<\/b>, giving their threefold light to the world. In the Revelation, John says, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” [Revelation 18:2-5 quoted.] This represents the giving of the last and threefold message of warning to the world<\/b> (MS 52, 1900).\u00a0 {7BC 985.6}<\/p>\n The third angel’s message is to be given with power<\/span><\/b>. The power of the proclamation of the first and second messages is to be intensified in the third.<\/span><\/b> In the Revelation John says of the heavenly messenger who unites with the third angel<\/span><\/b>: “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power<\/b>; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice.” Revelation 18:1, 2. We are in danger of giving the third angel’s message <\/span><\/b>in so indefinite a manner that it does not impress the people. So many other interests are brought in that the very message which should be proclaimed with power becomes tame and voiceless. At our camp meetings a mistake has been made. The Sabbath question<\/span><\/b> has been touched upon, but has not been presented as the great test for this time.<\/span><\/b> While the churches profess to believe in Christ, they are violating the law which Christ Himself proclaimed from Sinai. The Lord bids us: “Show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” Isaiah 58:1. The trumpet is to give a certain sound.\u00a0 {6T 60.1}<\/p>\n 3.Unite his voice with the third angel<\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0 I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven, descending to the earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message<\/b>. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere<\/span>, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” Revelation 18:2. {SR 399.1}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:4, 5. This message seemed to be an addition to the third message<\/span>, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her, that they might escape her fearful doom. {SR 399.3}<\/p>\n 4. Loud cry already begun<\/b><\/p>\n Let every one who claims to believe that the Lord is soon coming, search the Scriptures as never before; for Satan is determined to try every device possible to keep souls in darkness, and blind the mind to the perils of the times in which we are living. Let every believer take up his Bible with earnest prayer, that he may be enlightened by the Holy Spirit as to what is truth, that he may know more of God and of Jesus Christ whom He has sent. <\/span><\/b>Search for the truth as for hidden treasures, and disappoint the enemy. The time of test is just upon us<\/b>, for the loud cry of the third angel<\/b> has already begun<\/b> in the revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin-pardoning Redeemer. This is the beginning <\/b>of the light of the angel whose glory shall fill the whole earth. <\/span>For it is the work of every one to whom the message of warning has come, to lift up Jesus, to present Him to the world as revealed in types, as shadowed in symbols, as manifested in the revelations of the prophets, as unveiled in the lessons given to His disciples and in the wonderful miracles wrought for the sons of men. Search the Scriptures; for they are they that testify of Him.\u00a0 {1SM 362.4}\u00a0 \u00a0(RH Nov. 22, 1892).<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If you would stand through the time of trouble, you must know Christ, and appropriate the gift of His righteousness<\/b>, which He imputes to the repentant sinner<\/b>. {1SM 363.1}<\/p>\n 5. This is the time of the latter rain<\/b><\/p>\n We have now come to the last days of the work of the third angel’s message<\/b>, when Satan will work with increasing power because he knows that his time is short.<\/span> At the same time there will come to us through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, diversities of operations in the outpouring of the Spirit. This is the time of the latter rain<\/span><\/b>.–Letter 230, 1908.\u00a0 {3SM 83.2}<\/p>\n \u00a06. Two distinct calls<\/b><\/p>\n “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). Here we stand, under the third angel’s message<\/span>. “And after these things I saw another angel <\/b>come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities” (Revelation 18:1-5).\u00a0 {2SM 116.1}<\/p>\n When Jesus began His public ministry, He cleansed the temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of His ministry was the second cleansing of the temple<\/span><\/b>. So in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls<\/span><\/b> are made to the churches. The second angel’s message<\/b> is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying<\/span><\/b>, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,<\/b> and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities” (RH Dec. 6, 1892).\u00a0 {7BC 985.5}\u00a0 \u00a0{1888 1078.7}\u00a0 {2SM 118.2}<\/p>\n Of Babylon, at the time brought to view in this prophecy, it is declared: “Her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:5. She has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall upon her. But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that they partake not of her sins and “receive not of her plagues.” Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from heaven, lightening the earth with his glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people.” These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth.\u00a0 {GC 604.1}<\/p>\n The Revelator says, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen” (Revelation 18:1, 2). This is the same message that was given by the second angel<\/span><\/b>–Babylon is fallen, “because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication” (chap 14:8). What is that wine? Her false doctrines.<\/span><\/b> She has given to the world a false sabbath instead of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and has repeated the lie Satan first told to Eve in Eden–the natural immortality of the soul. Many kindred errors she has spread far and wide, “teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”\u00a0 {3SM 405.3}<\/p>\n \u00a07.\u00a0 Far exceeding the midnight cry (1844)<\/b> <\/b><\/p>\n The power which stirred the people so mightily in the 1844 movement will again be revealed. The third angel’s message will go forth, not in whispered tones, but with a loud voice<\/span><\/b>.–5T 252 (1885).\u00a0 {LDE 202.1}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I saw that this message will close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry<\/span><\/b>.–EW 278 (1858).\u00a0 {LDE 202.2}<\/p>\n As foretold in the eighteenth of Revelation, the third angel’s message is to be<\/span> proclaimed with great power<\/span><\/b> by those who give the final warning against the beast and his image<\/span>.–8T 118 (1904).\u00a0 {LDE 201.6}<\/p>\n \u00a0The third message swells to a loud cry.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/b> <\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0As the third message swells to<\/b> a loud cry and as great power and glory<\/span> attend the closing work, the faithful people of God will partake of that glory. It is the latter rain which revives and strengthens them to pass through the time of trouble.–7BC 984 (1862).\u00a0 {LDE 201.1}<\/p>\n As the third angel’s message swells into a loud cry<\/span><\/b>, great power and glory will attend its proclamation. The faces of God’s people will shine with the light of heaven.–7T 17 (1902).\u00a0 {LDE 201.4}<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0When the storm of persecution really breaks upon us<\/b>, . . . then will the message of the third angel swell to a loud cry, and the whole earth will be lightened with the glory of the Lord.<\/span><\/b>–6T 401 (1900).\u00a0 {LDE 208.2}<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0The third angel’s message is swelling into a loud cry<\/span><\/b>, and you must not feel at liberty to neglect the present duty, and still entertain the idea that at some future time you will be the recipients of great blessing, when without any effort on your part a wonderful revival will take place. Today <\/span><\/b>you are to give yourselves to God, that He may make of you vessels unto honor, and meet for His service. Today<\/b> you are to give yourself to God, that you may be emptied of self, emptied of envy, jealousy, evil surmising, strife<\/b>, everything that shall be dishonoring to God. Today<\/b> you are to have your vessel purified that it may be ready for the heavenly dew<\/span>, ready for the showers of the latter rain; for the latter rain will come, and the blessing of God will fill every soul that is purified from every defilement<\/span><\/b>. It is our work today<\/span><\/b> to yield our souls to Christ, that we may be fitted for the time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord–fitted for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.<\/span>–The Review and Herald, March 22, 1892.\u00a0 {1SM 190.3} {1888 959.6}<\/p>\n The love of Christ, the love of our brethren, will testify to the world that we have been with Jesus and learned of Him. Then will the message of the third angel swell to a loud cry<\/b>, and the whole earth will be lightened with the glory of the Lord<\/span>. {6T 401.1}<\/p>\n The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry<\/b>.<\/span> And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message. {SR 399.2}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. The revenue of glory has been accumulating for this closing work of the Third Angel’s Message. The prayers that have been ascending for the fulfillment of the promise, the descent of the Holy Spirit, not one has been lost<\/span>. Each prayer has been accumulating, ready to overflow and pour forth a healing flood of heavenly influence and accumulated light all over the world. Letter 96a 1899, p. 2. (To Sister Henry, July 19, 1899.)<\/p>\n The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry.<\/b> And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation<\/b>, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message.\u00a0 {EW 277.1}<\/p>\n 8.\u00a0 World-wide harvest message<\/strong><\/p>\n The angel who unites in the proclamation of the third angel’s message is to lighten the whole earth<\/span><\/b> with his glory. A work of world-wide extent and unwonted power is here foretold. . . . Servants of God, with their faces lighted up and shining with holy consecration, will hasten from place to place to proclaim the message from heaven. By thousands of voices, all over the earth, the warning will be given.–GC 611, 612 (1911).\u00a0 {LDE 207.4}<\/p>\n The message of the angel<\/span><\/b> following the third is now to be given to all parts of the world<\/b>. It is to be the harvest message<\/span><\/b>, and the whole earth will be lighted with the glory of God<\/span><\/b>. The Lord has this one more call of mercy to the world<\/span>, but the perversity of men diverts the work from its true bearing, and the light has to struggle amid the darkness of men who feel themselves competent to do a work that God has not appointed them to do.–Letter 86, 1900, pp. 8, 9. Last Warnings of the Third Angel\u2014–<\/b>\u00e0<\/b> Loud cry<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n The angel who unites in the proclamation of the third angel’s message <\/span><\/b>is to lighten the whole earth with his glory.<\/b> A work of world-wide extent and unwonted power is here foretold. The advent movement of 1840-44 was a glorious manifestation of the power of God; the first angel’s message was carried to every missionary station in the world, and in some countries there was the greatest religious interest which has been witnessed in any land since the Reformation of the sixteenth century; but these are to be exceeded by the mighty movement under the last warning of the third angel<\/b>.\u00a0 {GC 611.1}<\/p>\n 10. It had effect. Many had been bound; some wives by their husbands, and some children by their parents. The honest who had been prevented from hearing the truth now eagerly laid hold upon it. All fear of their relatives was gone, and the truth alone was exalted to them. They had been hungering and thirsting for truth; it was dearer and more precious than life<\/span><\/b>. I asked what had made this great change. An angel answered, “It is the latter rain, the refreshing from the presence of the Lord, the loud cry of the third angel<\/span><\/b>.”\u00a0 {EW 271.2}<\/p>\n 11. The Saviour of men will be glorified<\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0 When the earth is lightened with the glory of God, we shall see a work similar to that which was wrought when the disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit, proclaimed the power of a risen Saviour<\/span><\/b>. The light of heaven penetrated the darkened minds of those who had been deceived by the enemies of Christ, and the false representation of Him was rejected; for through the efficacy of the Holy Spirit, they now saw Him exalted to be a Prince and Saviour, to give repentance unto Israel, and remission of sins.<\/span><\/b> Christ was glorified <\/span><\/b>through the power of the Holy Spirit resting upon men. {YRP 177.3}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The revelation of Christ<\/span><\/b> by the Holy Spirit brought to them a realizing sense of His power and majesty<\/b>, and they stretched forth their hands unto Him by faith, saying, “I believe.” Thus it was in the time of the early rain; but the latter rain will be more abundant<\/span><\/b>. The Saviour of men will be glorified, and the earth will be lightened with the bright shining of the beams of His righteousness. He is the fountain of light, and light from the gates ajar has been shining upon the people of God, that they may lift Him up in His glorious character<\/span><\/b> before those who sit in darkness.–Home Missionary, Nov. 1, 1893. {YRP 177.4}<\/p>\n 12. \u00a0Preparation for the Latter Rain<\/b>.<\/p>\n (Isaiah 61:11.) –We must not wait for the latter rain. It is coming upon all who will recognize and appropriate the dew and showers of grace<\/b> that fall upon us. When we gather up the fragments of light<\/b><\/span>, when we appreciate the sure mercies of God<\/span><\/b>, who loves to have us trust Him<\/span><\/b>, then every promise will be fulfilled. [Isaiah 61:11 quoted.] The whole earth is to be filled with the glory of God (Letter 151, 1897).\u00a0 {7BC 984.5}<\/p>\n \u00a0Vessels should be\u00a0 clean<\/b><\/p>\n You want to open your minds, to gird up the loins of your mind, and hope to the end. You do not want to get many things upon the mind to take it away from the truth the angel is proclaiming. When the latter rain comes upon the people of God, you must have a preparation to press right on<\/b>, because those whose vessels are clean, whose hands are free just when that latter rain comes<\/b>, get the light that comes from on high, and their voices are lifted, every one, to proclaim the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 {1SAT 50.1}<\/p>\n Cleanse\u00a0 hearts from all iniquity<\/b><\/p>\n If all those that handle the Word of God, ministering to the people, will cleanse their hearts from all iniquity and all defilement, and shall come to God with clean purpose of heart, as little children, they shall see of the salvation of God.<\/b> Jesus will walk in our midst<\/b><\/span>. We have now the invitations of mercy to become vessels unto honor, and then we need not worry about the latter rain; all we have to do is to keep the vessel clean and right side up and prepared for the reception of the heavenly rain, and keep praying, “Let the latter rain come into my vessel. Let the light of the glorious angel which unites with the third angel shine upon me. Give me a part in the work. Let me sound the proclamation. Let me be a co-laborer with Jesus Christ.”<\/b><\/span> Thus seeking God,<\/span><\/b> let me tell you, He is fitting you up all the time, giving you His grace.<\/span> You need not be worried. You need not be thinking that there is a special time coming when you are to be crucified. The time to be crucified is just now.<\/span> Every day, every hour, self is to die; self is to be crucified<\/span><\/b>; and then, when the time comes that the test shall come to God’s people in earnest, the everlasting arms are around you. The angels of God make a wall of fire around about and deliver you. <\/span>\u00a0{1SAT 187.2}<\/p>\n 13. \u00a0Its glory will be called a false light\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. “Why,” they say, “should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years?”<\/span><\/b>–RH Extra, Dec. 23, 1890.\u00a0 {LDE 209.3}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0 The third angel’s message will not be comprehended,<\/span><\/b> the light which will lighten the earth with its glory will be called a false light, by those who refuse to walk in its advancing glory.–RH May 27, 1890.\u00a0 {LDE 210.1}<\/p>\n 14. God will take the reins in His own hands<\/b><\/p>\n Unless those who can help in —– are aroused to a sense of their duty, they will not recognize the work of God when the loud cry of the third angel<\/b> shall be heard.<\/span> When light goes forth to lighten the earth, instead of coming up to the help of the Lord, they will want to bind about His work to meet their narrow ideas. Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of things<\/b>, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning.<\/span> There will be those among us who will always want to control the work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins the third angel<\/b> in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands. The workers will be surprised by the simple means <\/b><\/span>that He will use to bring about and perfect His work of righteousness. Those who are accounted good workers will need to draw nigh to God, they will need the divine touch.<\/span> They will need to drink more deeply and continuously at the fountain of living water, in order that they may discern God’s work at every point<\/span>. Workers may make mistakes, but you should give them a chance to correct their errors, give them an opportunity to learn caution, by leaving the work in their hands.\u00a0 {TM 299.2}<\/p>\n \u00a0 During the loud cry <\/b>the church, aided by the providential interpositions of her exalted Lord<\/b>, will diffuse the knowledge of salvation so abundantly that light will be communicated to every city and town.–Ev 694 (1904).\u00a0 {LDE 208.4}<\/p>\n 15. Only those<\/b><\/p>\n We may be followed with testimony after testimony of reproof; but if we do not overcome the disposition in us to do evil, if we do not respond to the light, we shall be in a state of condemnation before God. If, on the other hand, we live up to all the light that shines upon us, that light will continue to increase,<\/span><\/b> and we shall have a clean record in heaven. The third angel’s message is to lighten the earth with its glory; but only those who have withstood temptation in the strength of the Mighty One will be permitted to act a part in proclaiming it when it shall have swelled into the loud cry.\u00a0 <\/span><\/b>{HS 155.3} {RH, November 19, 1908 par. 9}<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Rev18:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Jeremiah 30:7; Hosea 6:3; Joel 2:23; Zechariah 10:1; Ephesians 4:13, 15.) Refreshing of the Latter Rain.–As the members of the body of Christ approach the period of their last conflict, “the time of Jacob’s trouble,” they will grow up into Christ<\/span><\/b>, and will partake largely of His Spirit<\/span><\/b>. As the third message swells to a loud cry<\/span><\/b>, and as great power and glory attend the closing work, the faithful people of God will partake of that glory. It is the latter rain which revives and strengthens them to pass through the time of trouble. Their faces will shine with the glory of that light which attends the third angel<\/span> (RH May 27, 1862).\u00a0 {7BC 984.4}<\/p>\n Rev 18 : 1 (ch. 14:9-12; Habakkuk 2:14; see EGW on Acts 2:1-4). The Angel of Revelation 18.– The prophecies in the eighteenth of Revelation will soon be fulfilled. As the members of the body of Christ approach the period of their last conflict, “the time of Jacob’s trouble<\/span>,” they will grow up into Christ<\/span><\/b>, and will partake largely of His spirit<\/span>.
